Reviews :

The CD "Witness" by G.J. Lovie is spiritually invigorating, heart touching, and a well-titled CD that unveils the personal sides of someone who has been transformed by the power and love of the Lord Jesus Christ. With his excellent artistic expressions, recording quality, and songwriting, G.J. Lovie stylistically communicates the saving message of Christ with passion and from the stance of his personal experiences. The lyrics, having a poetic nature, carry a sense of hope and encouragement, and inspire sincere submission to the Lord as one walks with Him. This contemporary Christian Rock has a rich country flavor, and a strikingly impressive blend of musical instruments that leave a memorable effect within the soul. The tracks " Please Redeem my soul" and "You lifted me," with their musical compositions and resonating characters, are masterful songs. "Fellowship," lyrically reveals the honesty of the artist's heart and how Jesus affected his life. "His glory, is grace" is an impressive mix with a perfect vocal match adequate for the worship of God. If you enjoy real contemporary Christian rock which revitalizes the spirit, you will enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today.

With 'Witness' this Scottish songwriter has pulled together a collection of modest yet well written modern country rock songs. The 10 cuts that make up the disc share G J Lovie's testimony of his conversion, told in a quaint, story-telling manner, and sure enough the song titles indicate the kind of thoroughly Christian experience that the lyrics deliver. The album is definitely a humble journey; the dynamics never too sporadic, nor the vocals too daring - just simple guitar work complimented by a resoundingly warm, honest and genuinely capable voice. Songs like "Tear Down These Walls" demonstrate Lovie's ability to write an appetisingly catchy chorus. However the songwriting, while solid, never fully satisfies the listener's hunger; there's always a sense of constraint and safety within the songs' passages. "Truth And Light" shows a glimpse of a more experimental shade of Lovie's expression, straying into electronic-based drum beats during the intro but nothing that breaches the artist's pop structure style of writing. 'Witness' is not a pioneering work by any means, but, true to itself, it is a sincere, honest and genuinely enjoyable experience.
